In the few years since our first voyage to the white continent in 1998, the world’s population has passed the six billion mark, and famine-causing floods and drought, fires and tornadoes, have swept the earth. Yet the new US administration unabashedly indifferent to the environment, social justice, and the welfare of future generations has been installed in a sadly stained election largely financed by corporate America, in particular the fossil fuel industry, whose investment has been lavishly repaid by environmental deregulation and a cruel gutting of social programs. Many years of hard-won progress by dedicated people for the common good are being sacrificed to pay for grotesque tax cuts for those who need it least, to our nations ‘very serious future harm.
